On November 3rd REBECa and Landscape Europe co-hosted a seminar on bioenergy landscapes. The venue was the National Environmental Research Institute at Aarhus University in Roskilde, Denmark. Information on the event, abstracts and presentations are available for download below. For more information please contact Pia Frederiksen (pfr@dmu.dk).
With the agreement on the new Renewable Energy Directive (2009/28/EC), a new driver for land use changes has been introduced. Dedicated (perennial) energy crops as well as food and fibre crops, cultivated for energy purposes are already changing the landscape and impacts (positive or negative) on environment, nature and landscape are to be expected . At the workshop studies within this area was presented and discussed. The final debate focused on identifying future research challenges. The theme of the workshop will reappear in a coming (2011 expected, no date yet) special issue in Biomass and Bioenergy
